XM offers three mobile apps: the XM App (its proprietary all-in-one platform), MetaTrader 4, and MetaTrader 5. All three are free, available on iOS and Android, and connect to the same XM trading account. This guide covers how to download each one, which app to choose, and how to get set up. For a full assessment of XM as a broker, see our XM Review.

If you already have an XM account, you can start trading within minutes of installing the app. If you do not have one yet, you can register directly from the XM App — the full sign-up, KYC verification, and first deposit can all be done on your phone.

Why Are There Multiple XM Apps on Google Play?

If you search “XM” on Google Play, you will find several apps that look almost identical: XM App, XM 360, XM GO, and XM Connect. All four are published by Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd, and their descriptions are nearly word-for-word copies of each other.

The reason is entity segmentation — XM operates under multiple regulated entities worldwide (CySEC, ASIC, DFSA, FSCA, CMA Kenya, FSC Belize) and uses separate app builds to route users to the correct legal entity based on their location. The apps are functionally identical; the difference is which XM entity you are onboarded to.

Which one should you download? The main XM App (package: com.xm.webapp). It has 5 million+ downloads and is the primary listing. If you are directed to a different version during registration, the app will handle the redirect automatically.

“XM Exchange” is not XM
A separate app called “XM Exchange” (published by USMART SECURITIES, package: com.xm.app) appears in Google Play search results. This is not affiliated with XM / Trading Point. It uses similar branding and promises daily returns of 1–2%, which is a classic scam signal. Only download apps published by Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd.

XM APK Download (Android)

If Google Play is unavailable in your country or on your device, XM provides an official APK file directly from their website.

  1. Open your Android browser and go to xm.com/apk-app-download.
  2. Download the APK file. Your browser may ask you to confirm the download.
  3. Go to Settings → Security → Unknown Sources and enable “Install from unknown sources” (or allow your browser to install unknown apps on Android 8+).
  4. Open the downloaded APK file and tap Install.
  5. Once installed, open the app and log in normally.

The APK is identical to the Play Store version. XM updates it on their site alongside Play Store releases, so you receive the same features and security patches.

Only use the official source
Download the APK exclusively from xm.com/apk-app-download. Third-party APK sites may host outdated or modified versions that could compromise your account credentials.

How to Set Up & Start Trading

Once you have the XM App installed, here is how to go from download to your first trade.

  1. Register or log in. Open the XM App and tap Register if you are new. The sign-up asks for your name, email, country, and phone number. You can also log in with an existing XM account.
  2. Verify your identity (KYC). Upload a photo of your ID (passport or national ID) and a proof of address (utility bill or bank statement). You can take the photos directly inside the app. Verification typically completes within 24 hours.
  3. Choose demo or live. While KYC is pending, you can trade on the demo account immediately. Once verified, switch to live by tapping the account switcher at the top of the app.
  4. Deposit funds. Tap Deposit inside the app. XM supports cards (Visa, Mastercard), e-wallets (Skrill, Neteller), bank transfer, and M-Pesa (Kenya via iPay Africa). Minimum deposit is $5 on Standard and Micro accounts.
  5. Place your first trade. Search for an instrument (e.g., EUR/USD), tap it, set your lot size and stop-loss, then tap Buy or Sell. XM executes 99% of orders in under one second with zero requotes.
Claim the 100% welcome bonus
Open a Standard or Micro account (not Ultra Low) and your first deposit is matched 100%. A $100 deposit becomes $200 in trading capital. Important: any withdrawal — even $1 — removes all bonus credit immediately. See our XM Bonus guide for full terms.

Conclusion

If you want one app that handles everything — trading, deposits, withdrawals, copy trading, education, and account management — download the XM App. It is the simplest way to start trading with XM on your phone, and the only XM mobile app that lets you manage your money without opening a browser.

If you need Expert Advisors, custom indicators, or desktop-grade charting, add MT5 alongside it. Both connect to the same XM account, so there is no conflict — use the XM App for account management and MT5 for execution.

XM is regulated by CySEC, ASIC, DFSA, FSCA, and CMA Kenya. All apps are free. Start with the free demo account to test the interface, and when ready, a $5 deposit on a Standard account unlocks the 100% welcome bonus. For a full overview of XM’s safety, fees, and regulation, read our XM review.

The XM App is the best starting point for mobile traders who want a single app for trading and account management. Pair it with MT5 if you need advanced tools. All three apps are free, and the demo requires no deposit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the XM app free to download?

Yes. The XM App, MetaTrader 4, and MetaTrader 5 are all free on iOS and Android. There is no subscription fee. XM earns revenue from trading spreads and commissions, not from app downloads.

Is the XM app safe?

The XM App is published by Trading Point Holdings Ltd, regulated by CySEC (EU), ASIC (Australia), DFSA (Dubai), FSCA (South Africa), and CMA (Kenya). The app uses SSL encryption and supports biometric login (Face ID, fingerprint). It carries a 4.6/5 rating on the Apple App Store.

Which XM app should I download — there are several on Google Play?

Download XM App (package: com.xm.webapp) by Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd. The other listings (XM 360, XM GO, XM Connect) are entity-specific builds that are functionally identical. Avoid “XM Exchange” by USMART SECURITIES — it is not affiliated with XM.

Can I deposit and withdraw money from the XM app?

Yes, but only from the XM App (the proprietary app). MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 do not support deposits or withdrawals — for those you need the XM App or the XM Members Area in your browser. The XM App supports cards, e-wallets, bank transfers, and M-Pesa (Kenya).

What is the difference between the XM App and MetaTrader?

The XM App is built by XM and combines trading with full account management (deposits, withdrawals, KYC, education, copy trading). MetaTrader 4 and 5 are built by MetaQuotes and focus on trading execution, charting, and automated strategies. They connect to the same account — you can use both.

Does the XM app offer copy trading?

Yes. The XM App includes built-in copy trading. Browse Strategy Managers by ROI, drawdown, and win rate, then allocate funds starting from $50. XM does not charge for the service — Strategy Managers set their own performance fees (up to 50% of profits). You can start copy trading from the XM App by visiting the Copy Trading section.

How do I download the XM APK?

Go to xm.com/apk-app-download in your Android browser and download the file. Enable “Install from unknown sources” in your device settings, then open and install the APK. It is identical to the Google Play version.

Does the XM app have a demo account?

Yes. You can open a free demo account directly from the XM App with virtual funds. No deposit required, no time limit. The demo uses real market data and live spreads, so it accurately mirrors live trading conditions.

Can I use the XM app on PC?

The XM App is designed for mobile (iOS and Android). For desktop trading, XM offers MT4 and MT5 as downloadable desktop platforms, plus MT5 WebTrader that runs in any browser. The XM App can also run on Mac computers with Apple M1 chip or later via the App Store.
