- Forex spreads: 1.0 pip on EUR/USD, no commission — competitive for a social trading platform, above average for a pure forex broker
- Real stocks: $1 commission in most countries, $0 in the UK and Ireland — ETFs are commission-free everywhere
- FX conversion: 150 PIPs for EUR/GBP via standard payments, 0.75% from local currency accounts — the rate varies by currency, payment method, and Club tier
- Crypto: 1% buy/sell spread — higher than dedicated crypto exchanges
- Non-trading: $5 withdrawal fee from USD account (waived at Platinum+), no inactivity fee, no deposit fees
eToro’s trading fees are low for a multi-asset social trading platform, but the broker is not the cheapest option for any single asset class. Forex spreads start at 1.0 pip on EUR/USD (no commission), real stock trading costs $1 per trade in most countries (or $0 in the UK and Ireland), and ETFs are commission-free. The fee most users underestimate is the FX conversion charge on every non-USD transaction — a cost that varies by currency, payment method, and Club tier, and that most review sites oversimplify as a flat percentage.
This guide breaks down every eToro fee: CFD spreads by asset class compared to the industry average, stock and ETF commissions by country, the full FX conversion schedule by currency and payment method, Club tier discounts and which payment methods actually qualify for them, overnight fees, and every non-trading cost. eToro Spreads
eToro charges spreads on all CFD trades with no separate commission. Spreads are variable and widen during news events and low-liquidity periods. The figures below are typical spreads during normal market hours, sourced from eToro’s official fee schedule.
Forex Spreads
| Pair | eToro Spread | Industry Average | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 1.0 pip | 1.1 pips | −9% |
| GBP/USD | 1.5 pips | 1.4 pips | +7% |
| USD/JPY | 1.0 pip | 1.4 pips | −29% |
eToro’s forex spreads are mixed against the industry average. EUR/USD and USD/JPY are competitive; GBP/USD is slightly above. For a dedicated forex trader, brokers like Exness (0.8 pips on EUR/USD) or IC Markets offer tighter pricing. For a trader who uses eToro primarily for CopyTrader and multi-asset access, the forex spreads are acceptable — not the cheapest, not expensive.
Index Spreads
| Index | eToro Spread |
|---|---|
| SPX500 (S&P 500) | 1.00 point |
| NSDQ100 (Nasdaq 100) | 2.00 points |
| DJ30 (Dow Jones 30) | 3.00 points |
Index spreads are competitive. The 1.00-point spread on SPX500 is in line with most major CFD brokers. These are popular instruments on eToro’s CopyTrader — many top investors hold index positions.
Commodity Spreads
| Commodity | eToro Spread |
|---|---|
| Gold (XAU/USD) | 45 pips |
| Oil (WTI) | 5 pips |
Gold at 45 pips ($0.45 per ounce, or approximately $45 per standard lot) is above average — dedicated forex brokers like Exness offer gold from 5–20 cents. Oil at 5 pips is within the normal range for CFD brokers.
Crypto Spreads
eToro charges a 1% buy/sell spread on all cryptocurrency trades. This applies whether you buy crypto as a CFD or as the underlying asset with real ownership. The 1% spread is higher than dedicated crypto exchanges like Binance (0.1%) or Coinbase (0.6%), but eToro offers the convenience of trading crypto, stocks, and forex in a single account with a single login.
eToro Stock and ETF Commissions
eToro charges a flat commission per stock trade that varies by your country of residence, not by the exchange or stock price. ETFs are commission-free worldwide. Commissions apply only when you buy real stocks with ownership — not when you trade stock CFDs, copy another investor via CopyTrader, or invest through Smart Portfolios.
| Region | Stock Commission | ETF Commission |
|---|---|---|
| UK and Ireland | $0 | $0 |
| Most countries (incl. South Africa) | $1 per trade | $0 |
| Australia, New Zealand | $2 per trade | $0 |
| AU/HK/Dubai/Abu Dhabi exchanges | $2 per trade | $0 |
The $1 commission applies on both opening and closing the position. If you buy $500 worth of Apple stock and later sell it, you pay $1 when you buy and $1 when you sell — $2 total. On a $500 trade, that is 0.4% round-trip, which is competitive with most retail brokers.
When the Commission Does NOT Apply
Stock commissions are charged only on manual stock purchases with real ownership. The following are exempt:
| Activity | Commission | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Stock CFDs | $0 (spread only) | CFDs are spread-based, no ownership |
| CopyTrader (copied trades) | $0 | Commissions are not applied on copied positions |
| Smart Portfolios | $0 | Managed portfolio, no per-trade commission |
| ETFs (all types) | $0 | ETF trades are commission-free globally |
| Recurring Investment (opening) | $0 | Commission bypassed on the opening trade |
| Recurring Investment (closing) | $1 / $2 | Standard commission applies when you sell |
eToro FX Conversion Fees
eToro charges an FX conversion fee on every transaction that involves a currency conversion — deposits, withdrawals, trades, and internal transfers between your local currency account and USD account. The fee varies by currency, payment method, and eToro Club tier, making it the most complex fee on the platform and the one most users underestimate.
When the FX Conversion Fee Applies
Currency conversion is triggered in three scenarios:
| Scenario | Example |
|---|---|
| Depositing or withdrawing in a non-USD currency | You deposit EUR via credit card → eToro converts to USD |
| Transferring between your local currency and USD accounts | You move GBP from your eToro Money account to your USD investment account |
| Trading an asset denominated in a different currency than your account funds | You hold GBP funds and buy a USD-denominated stock |
The fee does not apply when: you deposit USD directly, you trade using funds in the same currency as the asset (e.g., GBP funds buying GBP-denominated stocks), or you transfer between accounts in the same currency.
Conversion Fees by Currency and Payment Method
eToro uses two different fee formats: PIPs for standard payment methods (cards, e-wallets, online banking, bank transfers) and percentages for local currency account conversions. PIPs represent a markup applied to the exchange rate — the effective percentage varies with the underlying rate and is periodically adjusted by eToro to align with target percentages.
| Currency | Card | E-Wallets | Online Banking | Bank Transfer | Local Account |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EUR, GBP | 150 PIPs | 150 PIPs | 150 PIPs | 150 PIPs | 0.75% |
| AUD | 150 PIPs | 150 PIPs | 150 PIPs | 150 PIPs | 0.75%* |
| DKK | 1% | 1,000 PIPs | 1,000 PIPs | 1% | 0.75% |
| CHF | 1% | 150 PIPs | 150 PIPs | 1% | – |
| NOK, SEK | 1% | 1,600 PIPs | 1,600 PIPs | 1% | – |
| PLN | 1% | 650 PIPs | 650 PIPs | 1% | – |
| SGD | 385 PIPs | – | 0.75% | 128 PIPs | – |
| AED | 820 PIPs | – | 0.75% | 820 PIPs | – |
| BRL | 15,555 PIPs | – | 3% | – | – |
| MXN | 6,000 PIPs | – | 2.5% | – | – |

The table above shows the most common currencies. The general pattern: EUR and GBP are the cheapest currencies to convert (150 PIPs via standard methods or 0.75% from local accounts), while emerging-market currencies like BRL and MXN incur significantly higher fees, especially via card.
Club Tier Discounts on Conversion Fees
eToro Club members receive discounts on conversion fees, but the discount percentage and eligible payment methods depend on your region. This is one of the most commonly misunderstood aspects of eToro’s fee structure — the discounts are not universal.
UK, Europe, Australia, UAE, Singapore, and Malaysia
| Club Tier | Discount |
|---|---|
| Bronze | 0% (no discount) |
| Silver / Gold | 20% |
| Platinum / Platinum+ | 40% |
| Diamond | 80% |
Eligible payment methods: local currency accounts (GBP, EUR, DKK, AUD), SGD and MYR to USD via Paynow, MYR via online banking, AED instant bank transfers, and corporate bank transfers.
Rest of World (Including South Africa)
| Club Tier | Discount |
|---|---|
| Bronze | 0% (no discount) |
| Silver / Gold | 25% |
| Platinum / Platinum+ | 50% |
| Diamond | 100% (exempt) |
Eligible payment methods: bank transfers only. Card and e-wallet payments do not receive Club discounts for Rest of World clients.
Latin America
| Country | Bronze – Gold | Platinum / Platinum+ | Diamond |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mexico (MXN) | 2.50% | 2.00% | 1.50% |
| Brazil (BRL) | 3.00% | 2.40% | 2.40% |
| Chile (CLP) | 3.00% | 2.40% | 1.80% |
| Peru (PEN) | 3.00% | 2.40% | 1.80% |
| Colombia (COP) | 3.00% | 2.40% | 1.80% |
Eligible payment methods: online banking only.
Local Currency Accounts: The Cheapest Route
If you are in the UK, EU, or Australia, the cheapest way to avoid conversion fees is to open a local currency account (GBP, EUR, AUD, or DKK). Deposits and withdrawals to your local currency account incur no conversion fee. The 0.75% fee applies only when you transfer funds from your local account to your USD investment account — and you can avoid even that by trading assets denominated in your own currency directly from the local account.
Local currency accounts are not available in Africa, Latin America, or most of Asia. For traders in those regions, the standard payment method rates and Club tier discounts described above are the only options.

eToro Overnight Fees
eToro charges an overnight fee (also called a rollover or swap fee) on every CFD position held past 5:00 PM EST. The fee is calculated based on the interest rate differential between the currencies in the pair, the position size, and eToro’s markup. On Wednesdays or Fridays (depending on the asset), a triple charge applies to account for the weekend settlement period.
Overnight fees do not apply to real stock or ETF positions — only to CFDs. If you buy Apple stock with real ownership on eToro, there is no overnight fee. If you trade Apple as a CFD (using leverage), the overnight fee applies.
For day traders and scalpers who close positions before 5 PM EST, overnight fees are irrelevant. For swing traders and CopyTrader users who hold positions for days or weeks, overnight fees can accumulate significantly — especially on leveraged forex and crypto CFDs. Factor them into your expected holding cost before copying a trader whose strategy involves long-duration positions.
eToro Non-Trading Fees
eToro’s non-trading fees include the withdrawal fee, crypto transfer fee, and previously the inactivity fee (now removed). There are no deposit fees, no account maintenance fees, no data fees, and no platform fees.
Withdrawal Fee
eToro charges a $5 flat fee per withdrawal from the USD investment account for Bronze, Silver, and Gold tier clients. The fee is waived at Platinum tier and above. Withdrawals from local currency accounts (GBP, EUR, AUD, DKK) and transfers to eToro Money are free regardless of tier. US clients pay $0 at all tiers. For the full withdrawal process and processing times, see our eToro Withdrawal guide.
| Club Tier | USD Withdrawal Fee | Local Account / eToro Money |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze / Silver / Gold | $5 | $0 |
| Platinum / Platinum+ / Diamond | $0 (waived) | $0 |
Inactivity Fee
eToro does not charge an inactivity fee. The broker removed this fee on May 28, 2026. Previously, eToro charged $10/month after 12 consecutive months without logging in. This is no longer a cost on any eToro account, regardless of tier or country.
Crypto Transfer Fee
eToro charges a 2% fee when transferring cryptocurrency from your eToro trading account to your eToro Money crypto wallet. This is separate from the 1% buy/sell spread on crypto trades. If you buy crypto on eToro and hold it in your trading account without transferring, the 2% transfer fee does not apply.
Deposit Fees
eToro charges no deposit fees on any payment method — credit/debit card, bank transfer, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, eToro Money, Trustly, iDEAL, and Przelewy24. The FX conversion fee is a separate charge that applies to non-USD deposits, but this is a currency conversion cost, not a deposit fee. Your own bank or payment provider may charge intermediary fees on wire transfers — these are not eToro fees. For deposit instructions and minimums, see our eToro Deposit guide.
How to Reduce Your Trading Costs on eToro
eToro’s fees are competitive but not the lowest available, and the FX conversion system means many users pay more than they expect. Here are five ways to minimise what you pay.
- Open a local currency account if you are in the UK, EU, or Australia. This eliminates FX conversion fees on deposits, withdrawals, and trades in same-currency assets. You still pay 0.75% when transferring to the USD account, but that is lower than the PIP-based rates on standard payment methods — and it qualifies for Club tier discounts.
- Deposit via bank transfer if you want Club discounts (Rest of World). Card and e-wallet deposits do not receive Club tier discounts for clients outside the UK, EU, Australia, UAE, Singapore, and Malaysia. Bank transfer is the only payment method that qualifies for the 25–100% discount in the “Rest of World” tier. The trade-off: 4–7 business days processing and a $500 minimum.
- Use CopyTrader and Smart Portfolios to avoid stock commissions. The $1 stock commission does not apply to copied trades or Smart Portfolio investments. If you would buy the same stocks through CopyTrader, you pay only the spread — no per-trade commission.
- Trade during liquid hours for tighter spreads. eToro’s spreads are variable. During the London/New York overlap (1 PM – 5 PM GMT), spreads on major forex pairs and indices are at their tightest. You can monitor live spreads from the eToro mobile app. Avoid trading during rollover (10 PM GMT) or over weekends.
- Set recurring investments to bypass the opening commission. Recurring investments skip the $1 stock commission when the position opens. The commission applies only when you sell. For long-term buy-and-hold strategies, this halves the total commission cost.
Conclusion
eToro’s fees are low for a multi-asset social trading platform but not the cheapest for any single asset class. Forex spreads (1.0 pip EUR/USD) are competitive with generalist brokers but above what dedicated forex brokers charge. Stock commissions ($1 per trade, $0 in the UK) are reasonable. ETFs are free. The FX conversion fee is the cost most users underestimate — it applies to every non-USD transaction, varies by currency and payment method, and Club discounts are restricted to specific payment channels depending on your region.
The strongest fee advantages are: zero inactivity fee (removed May 2026), zero deposit fees, zero commissions on CopyTrader and Smart Portfolios, and the $0 stock commission for UK and Irish traders. The main cost disadvantage is the FX conversion system, which is complex and expensive for emerging-market currencies (up to 3% for BRL, MXN, CLP via online banking).
Here is who benefits most from eToro’s fee structure:
- CopyTrader users: No additional fees beyond the underlying spreads — no commission, no management fee. eToro is one of the cheapest platforms for copying other traders.
- UK/EU/AU traders: Local currency accounts eliminate FX conversion on same-currency trades. Combined with $0 stock commissions (UK/Ireland), eToro’s total cost is very competitive.
- Long-term stock investors: $1 commission on real stock ownership with no custody fees and no inactivity fee makes eToro suitable for buy-and-hold portfolios.
- Active forex traders: Spreads are adequate but not best-in-class. If forex is your primary activity, a dedicated broker like Exness or IC Markets will be cheaper on spreads.
