AvaTrade Login — Access Your Trading Account
Log in to your existing AvaTrade account or register a new one:
AvaTrade offers several ways to access your trading account — through the web platform, AvaTradeGO mobile app, MT4/MT5 desktop or mobile apps, AvaOptions, and social login (Google, Facebook, Apple). The one thing that trips up most users: your AvaTrade account password and your MT4/MT5 trading password are separate credentials. If you’re entering your AvaTrade email and password into the MT4 app and it’s not working — that’s why.
This guide covers every login path, the MT4/MT5 server names you’ll need, how to reset your password, how to set up two-factor authentication, and what to do when login fails.
How to Log In to AvaTrade
AvaTrade supports five login paths depending on which platform you use. Each path starts from a different entry point, but the core principle is the same: your AvaTrade account credentials (email + password) get you into the web platform, AvaTradeGO, and WebTrader — while MT4 and MT5 use separate trading credentials managed through your AvaTrade dashboard.
Web Platform Login (app.avatrade.com)
- Go to avatrade.com and click “Login” in the top-right corner, or navigate directly to app.avatrade.com.
- Enter your registered email and AvaTrade account password.
- Complete 2FA verification if enabled (enter the code from your authenticator app).
- You’re in. You’ll land on your AvaTrade dashboard, where you can access WebTrader, manage your account, deposit/withdraw, or launch MT4/MT5.
The official AvaTrade login URL is app.avatrade.com. AvaTrade also operates myvip.avatrade.com for VIP account holders. If you see a login page on an unfamiliar domain — anything other than avatrade.com subdomains — do not enter your credentials. Verify the URL carefully before logging in.
Social Login (Google, Facebook, Apple)
- Go to the AvaTrade login page at app.avatrade.com.
- Click the Google, Facebook, or Apple icon below the email/password fields.
- Authorize the connection in the popup window from your social account provider.
- Done. You’ll be logged into AvaTrade automatically.
If you created your AvaTrade account with an email and password, social login won’t work — even if the email address is the same. Social login only applies if you originally registered through Google, Facebook, or Apple. If you’re not sure how you registered, use email/password login and reset your password if needed.
AvaTradeGO Mobile App Login
- Open the AvaTradeGO app on your phone (iOS or Android).
- Tap “Login” on the welcome screen.
- Enter your email and AvaTrade password, or use social login (Google, Facebook, Apple).
- Complete 2FA if enabled.
- You’re in. The app opens to your trading dashboard with AvaProtect, charts, and watchlists.
If you don’t have the app yet, see our AvaTrade App Download guide for download links and which of AvaTrade’s three apps (AvaTradeGO, AvaSocial, AvaOptions) to choose.
MT4 and MT5 Login (Separate Credentials)
This is where most AvaTrade users get stuck. Your MT4/MT5 login is not the same as your AvaTrade email and password. MetaTrader uses a completely separate set of credentials: a numeric login ID, a trading password you set during account creation, and a specific server name. Here’s how to find them:
- Log in to your AvaTrade account at app.avatrade.com using your email and password.
- Go to your dashboard and find your MT4 or MT5 trading account.
- Your login ID and server name are shown in your account details. The password is the trading password you set when creating the MT4/MT5 account — it’s not displayed for security reasons.
- Open the MT4 or MT5 app (desktop, web, or mobile).
- Select the correct server and enter your login ID + trading password.
| Platform | Server Name Format | Where to Find |
|---|---|---|
| MT4 (Live) | Ava-Real 1 (or similar numbered server) | AvaTrade dashboard → MT4 account details |
| MT4 (Demo) | Ava-Demo | AvaTrade dashboard → MT4 demo details |
| MT5 (Live) | Ava Trade Ltd | AvaTrade dashboard → MT5 account details |
| MT5 (Demo) | Ava Trade Ltd – Demo | AvaTrade dashboard → MT5 demo details |
If the AvaTrade server doesn’t appear in the MT4/MT5 server list, type “Ava” in the search field — the matching servers will populate. If no servers appear at all, you may have downloaded a generic MT4/MT5 installer instead of the AvaTrade-branded version. Download MT4/MT5 directly from avatrade.com or your AvaTrade dashboard to get the correct server list pre-configured.
AvaOptions Login
AvaOptions uses your standard AvaTrade credentials (same email and password as the web platform). Access it at avaoptions.avatrade.com in your browser or through the dedicated AvaOptions mobile app. No separate credentials needed — if you can log in to avatrade.com, you can log in to AvaOptions.
Log in and start trading 1,250+ instruments with AvaProtect trade insurance, AvaAcademy education, and commission-free accounts. Or open a free demo account with up to $100,000 in virtual funds.

Common AvaTrade Login Problems
Most AvaTrade login issues come down to one of three things: using the wrong credentials (AvaTrade password vs MT4/MT5 trading password), selecting the wrong server in MetaTrader, or a browser/cache issue. AvaTrade is a regulated broker with a stable domain — access problems are almost always credential- or configuration-related rather than platform outages.
Wrong Password / Can’t Log In
The most common cause: entering your AvaTrade account password into the MT4 or MT5 app. These are different passwords. If you’re logging into avatrade.com or AvaTradeGO, use your AvaTrade email + account password. If you’re logging into MT4/MT5, use your numeric login ID + the trading password you created in the AvaTrade dashboard.
If your password is genuinely wrong, here’s the reset process:
- Go to the AvaTrade login page at app.avatrade.com.
- Click “Forgot Password” below the login fields.
- Enter your registered email address.
- Check your inbox for a password reset email from AvaTrade (check spam/junk if it doesn’t arrive within a few minutes).
- Click the reset link and set a new password.
- Log in with your new password.
For MT4/MT5 trading password resets: log into your AvaTrade account at app.avatrade.com first, navigate to your MT4/MT5 account settings, and reset the trading password from there. You don’t need to contact support for this.
Wrong Server in MT4/MT5
If your MT4 or MT5 login credentials are correct but you get an “Invalid account” or “No connection” error, you’re likely connected to the wrong server. MT4 live accounts use servers like “Ava-Real 1” — the number varies by account. MT5 live accounts connect to “Ava Trade Ltd”. Demo accounts use the demo-specific server variants. Check the exact server name in your AvaTrade dashboard, then select it manually in the MT4/MT5 connection settings.
Expired Demo Account
AvaTrade demo accounts expire after 21 days by default (up to 60 days in some regions). If your demo login stops working, it may have simply expired. You can contact AvaTrade support to request an extension or register a new demo account. See our AvaTrade Demo Account guide for details on demo duration and extensions.
Browser and Cache Issues
If avatrade.com or app.avatrade.com won’t load, shows a blank page, or keeps redirecting to the login screen after you’ve entered your credentials:
- Clear your browser cache and cookies, then refresh the page.
- Try incognito/private mode — this bypasses cached data and browser extensions.
- Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
- Use the AvaTradeGO mobile app as an alternative access point while web issues are resolved.
Account Locked or Restricted
Multiple failed login attempts may trigger a temporary lock. Wait 15–30 minutes and try again. If your account has been restricted for a different reason — compliance review, document verification, or unusual activity — AvaTrade support will explain the specific cause. Contact them via live chat on avatrade.com or call the Johannesburg office directly at +27(0)319800174 (South African traders).
2FA Code Not Working
If your two-factor authentication code is rejected: make sure your phone’s clock is synced to the correct time. Authenticator apps generate time-based codes — even a 30-second drift between your phone’s clock and the server can cause codes to fail. If you’ve lost access to your authenticator app entirely, contact AvaTrade support via live chat with your registered email for account recovery.
How to Protect Your AvaTrade Account
AvaTrade is regulated by 8 authorities including the CBI (Ireland, EU) and FSCA (South Africa), which means the broker operates under strict security and data protection standards. But your login credentials are still the primary line of defence against unauthorised access. Here’s how to secure your account.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
- Log in to your AvaTrade account at app.avatrade.com.
- Go to Account Settings → Security (or search for “Two-Factor Authentication” in your profile settings).
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, or similar).
- Enter the 6-digit code from the app to confirm the setup.
- Done. Every login will now require both your password and a code from your authenticator app.
2FA is the single most effective step you can take to protect your account. Even if someone obtains your password through a phishing attempt or data breach, they cannot log in without the code from your phone. This applies to web login, AvaTradeGO, and AvaOptions. MT4/MT5 logins are protected separately through the trading password you set in your AvaTrade dashboard.
Use a Strong, Unique Password
Don’t reuse your AvaTrade password on other sites. If a third-party service is breached and you used the same password, your trading account is exposed. Use a password manager to generate and store a unique, complex password for AvaTrade. This is especially important because your AvaTrade account is directly connected to your money.
Verify the Login URL
Before entering your credentials, always check that you’re on a legitimate AvaTrade domain: avatrade.com, app.avatrade.com, myvip.avatrade.com, or avaoptions.avatrade.com. Phishing attempts typically use domains that look similar (e.g., “ava-trade.com” or “avatrade-login.com”). If you receive an email asking you to log in, don’t click the link — navigate to avatrade.com directly in your browser.
Complete KYC Verification
Full identity verification (KYC) isn’t just for withdrawals — it also makes account recovery possible if you lose access. Without KYC documents on file, AvaTrade support has limited ability to verify your identity and restore a locked account. Complete KYC early, when you first open your account, not when you need it urgently.
Conclusion
Logging into AvaTrade is straightforward whether you use the web platform, AvaTradeGO, AvaOptions, or MT4/MT5 — as long as you remember the key distinction: your AvaTrade account password (for the web platform and mobile apps) and your MT4/MT5 trading password (for MetaTrader) are separate credentials. This is the most common source of login confusion, and once you understand it, the process is simple.
If something goes wrong, the password reset process takes under 5 minutes for both your AvaTrade account and your MT4/MT5 trading password. South African traders can also call the Johannesburg office at +27(0)319800174 for direct support — AvaTrade is one of the few brokers with a physical office and local phone number in Africa.
