Reforms meant to strongly promote investments at the same time protect natural resources in Tanzania


The Executive Director of Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) Geoffrey Mwambe was among the delegates to China to attend the Tanzania-China Mining Business and Investment Forum which took place in Beijing, on 10th December, 2018. Led by the Minister for Minerals Hon. Angellah Kairuki, the team from Tanzania comprised of about 80 delegates from the government and private sector.

 

Press conference was one of the key activities during the forum aiming at informing the World on Tanzanians’ economy, investment climate, opportunities and the readiness of the government to work with foreign investors worldwide. The press conference also focused on clarifying various issues which were wrongly reported by some of Western media particularly towards the recent decision by the Tanzanian Government to undertake policy and legal reforms in mining sector.

TIC held a joint meeting with Labour, TRA and Immigration Commissioners to brainstorm measures to improve services at One Stop Facilitation Centre


December 6th 2018: Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) organized a stakeholders’ meeting to brainstorm measures that would improve service delivery at One Stop Facilitation Centre. The meeting involved the Commissioner for Immigration, Commissioner for Labor, Commissioner General for Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) and the representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation. The aim was to discuss challenges and recommendations in relation to improving investment and business environment in Tanzania through services offered to investors at the One Stop Facilitation Centre on issuance of work permits, residence permits and TRA approvals.

 

Among others, the meeting resolved that Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) under one stop facilitation centre to improve communication among themselves and consult each other whenever further information is required to enable them to swiftly reach....

Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Majaliwa Kassim Majaliwa visit Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC)


4 November, 2018: The Board and Management of The Tanzania Investment Centre was honored to welcome the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania (URT) Honorable Majaliwa Kassim Majaliwa at the Centre’s office in Dar es Salaam.

 

The Prime Minister’s visit to TIC came just less than a month since His Excellency President of the URT Hon. John Joseph Pombe Magufuli directed the Centre to move from being under Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (MITI) to the Prime Minister’s Office from November 12th, 2018. The purpose of the visit was to meet with the TIC Board Members and Management to learn day to day activities of the Centre and chart-out way forward as the Centre starts its operations under the Prime Minister’s Office.

TANZANIA – CHINA BUSINESS & INVESTMENT FORUM, DECEMBER 10, 2018.


The Ministry of Mining, Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) in collaboration with Tanzania Embassy in China is co-organizing a Mining Business Forum which will take place on, 10th December, 2018 in the Westin Beijing Chaoyang, 7 North Dongsanhuan Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China.

 

The forum will provide to participants an opportunity to meet and interact with a number of companies based in China which have expressed interest to do business in the mining sector in Tanzania. This forum aims also to create a platform for representatives from the private and public sector from both countries to network and explore potential areas of cooperation. National Investment Facilitation Committee (NIFC) agrees on use of single form


13thNovember 2018: On its 5th meeting, the National Investment Facilitation Committee (NIFC) has unanimously agreed introduction of an online single form, which will greatly slash time used by investors to fill over 27 forms, with almost similar information from various Ministries and Agencies.

The Single Form will capture basic information like personal details of an investor, which are usually asked in every institution’s form. Technicians from the NIFC institutions will work together to design the form and report back to NIFC next month for approval.

NIFC also resolved to expedite ways of integrating online systems, from government institutions responsible for facilitating investors, in order to reduce time, cost and inconveniences that investors may face in the process of starting businesses.
